Release my ego: the part of me that wounds.

Shattering Ego by Barbara Helvey Hughes, April 11, 2020
few saw it coming
it wasn’t as if it were
a sledgehammer
or a hammer, at all, no
it was so small we
couldn’t see it with
naked eyes and
therefore we didn’t
trust those who warned
us, those who should
have earned our Trust
but ego is an elusive
enemy and not easily
cornered or controlled
so, what, now
talk about freedom?
Dead, there is no freedom
alive and confined to our selves
there is freedom corralled
can one corral freedom?
how can we possibly
return to our old ways
how can we possibly
trust our leaders, our
selves need mending
act in our best interest?
i doubt it
how ‘bout you?
ego? it’s not easy being human…
