An overpowering amazement

An overpowering amazement

Experiment in Wonder by Barbara Helvey Hughes, 2020

She looked so tiny in the hospital bed
minnow in a whale’s mouth
so small are we on the mountain’s top
wondering why we are here.

Tides of rapture corkscrew out
a helix within our circular lives
we seek the Goodway Road
through detours of soul-weft wonder.

Saviours smile all around us
as loving parents might watch and wait
while we wade through measured hours
our organic existence still wondrous.

Soon, we will wend our way Home
shrouded in the surety of our awe
miracles, all, knowing no end
to this Experiment in Wonder.
