I cannot see the curvature of Earth….

Horizons by Barbara Helvey Hughes, 2020 for Peter Valentine’s
I cannot see the curvature of Earth
nor grasp the rare intentions of my birth.
Cannot explain each question, every doubt
nor know my path, nor comprehend each rout.
No matter how insistent I may be
I simply cannot see.
I can’t perceive Awareness with a glance
nor neglect to connect
when dots seem more than chance.
Might I detect some transcendental force
directing, projecting
the orbit of my course?
Did we agree, to be?
My brain complains, convinces me I’m free
to scheme, dream, to plot
my lot ~ most decidedly.
With each resolve I set my arrow true.
How could I bet the target would be you?
Could I foretell the target might be you?
Are Love spells cast in heaven’s ether tao
then, stitched into Eternity’s bright brow?
I vow ~ if our paths crossed
at any time, but now
and if I’d recognized your Soul ~ somehow
I would have run, concluding Love’s a joke.
The story trapped inside
my head, instead, awoke
and listened to the songs and poems you spoke.
No, none of us can ever see ahead
nor understand our road or where its lead.
But I’ll awake still nestled in your arm
and I’ll awake inside your amber glow
and you will know, and I will know, no fear
for neither you, nor I, will come to harm
and as I listen to
you whisper in my ear:
“I Love you.”
I will reply “I Love you, too, My Dear.”
*Love is the language spoken here. I Love you Peter F. McKinnon and I will be eternally grateful you found your way to me….and, I, to you.

Oh, how I love your style, your rhyme and description of emotion and of your love.
You are an inspiration. I only read one of your poems and sense of security in arms of another. I wish there were workshops in my Ridgefield, CT area on line. I wrote a rhyming poem titled: Widowhood, in 1992 after my dear husband passed away. It was my first major poem. Since then I have written over 600 poems. Sixty four are in my first published book. I thank you for finding your talent. Zelda Zieselman
I have no web site. Don’t know how or why to get one. I’m sure they are helpful and maybe fun, but why at my age, do I really need one?
Thank you. Looking forward to hearing from you. Stay safe, Zelda Zieselman.
Dear Zelda, Thank you so very much for these comments. I’ve been writing ‘poetry’ since I was just a young girl, many years ago. This year, we finally decided to begin the long process of sorting and editing my work. There are boxes and boxes, so I know what you mean! Keep writing and I hope you visit often! Enjoy Autumn up there!! Stay safe. Blessings,
Barbara
