Open that lock!

Open that lock!

Waiting for the Locksmith by Barbara Helvey-Hughes, 2020

You are not the same person you were five years ago, ten years ago or even a day ago ~ neither am I.  Each of us changes, sometimes almost imperceptibly, but change, we do.  For any of us to be unkind because we think we know who someone is, is just silly and not very smart.  Perhaps we were unkind, unloving to another at some time in our lives: that does not mean we are still unkind or unloving.  Humans walk through all kinds of situations and respond or react to all kinds of behaviours and problems with a personality unique to that time.

Then, we change. We learn, we grow, we unfold, we become.

When someone treats us in an unkind manner, based on what they knew of us in another time and under different circumstances, it just doesn’t seem fair or right.  But since all things teach us something ~ maybe we are supposed to learn tolerance and patience. I know, I know: it’s hard.

But, we have a choice: we can forgive them, Love them anyhow or sit in the prison of our own making.

I refuse to waste what precious time I have waiting for the locksmith, when I, alone, can open that door.
