Our leaders thought and<br>planned generations ahead to insure the<br>future might be bright for our young ones.<br>Tribal councilors placed themselves at the rear<br>of the line and would never imagine to profit<br>from holding the esteemed position of Leader<br>because they understood Providence would always<br>provide that other \u201cwise ones\u201d following them<br>could take the reins and serve The People.<br>They knew they were one, of many.<br>\u00a0<br>There was a time when Leaders never placed<br>themselves above any tribal member, knowing that<br>to do so would merely confirm their unworthiness.<br>\u00a0<br>Genuine \u2018Leaders\u2019 knew the origin of their title:<br>\u201cTo go before, as a GUIDE\u201d and understood<br>their place was one of Trust and Truth. And<br>nothing, NOTHING was more important than<br>insuring the health, safety and welfare of The People.<br>\u00a0<br>Greed and fear did not rule during that time.<br>\u00a0<br>There was a time. Long and long ago\u2026.. when<br>members joined together for the Good of All.\u00a0<br>Trust was Sacred.\u00a0 Unity prevailed.\u00a0 Wisdom ruled.<br>Still, today, we marvel at the foresight of those who<br>formed our nation and chiseled our Constitution<br>out of the words and influence of the wisest among us,<br>who knew that Trust and Truth must be paramount,<br>if we are to survive as more than simply base, uncivil,<br>depraved members of some species experiment.<br>\u00a0<br>There was a time, and now it is time to revive our<br>Code of Honour.
