Christopher Castelli

Christopher Castelli is a graduate of the Cooper Union School of Art and Architecture in New York City, where he studied with the well-known realist painter Jack Beal and painter/sculptor Sol Lewitt, among other distinguished artists. He has been exhibiting his paintings since 1974.

Castelli is known for his landscapes and interior compositions. Many of his landscapes depict the serenity of the floodplain along the Connecticut River near his home. Others capture the subtle atmosphere of the mountains and cultivated hills of Italy and Sicily. The play of light in his still life compositions transforms ordinary items into objects of contemplation. Each painting is an exploration of the visual intricacies that are revealed to the patient viewer: the muted palette of daybreak, the unexpected colors that appear in reflections and shadows of the still life.

Castelli exhibits his paintings nationally, and has received the critical recognition of numerous awards. His paintings are included in more than one hundred private and corporate collections, including those of Aetna Insurance and Combustion Engineering. He is currently represented by the Hughes Gallery in Boca Grande, Florida, as well as several other galleries.
